The Heart of Redeemer

On Easter Sunday in 2008, Redeemer held its first service in Joel and Lauren’s living room in Crestwood. With a few dozen in attendance, the tiny space was full of joy and excitement as a new church family was formed.

By that summer, the tiny family had grown and moved a few blocks away into Girl’s Inc. In 2011, the space would shift to neighboring Woodlawn at Cornerstone Elementary. In 2014, the church moved to our current sanctuary in nearby Avondale. As we near two decades of life together as a church, the Lord is continuing to grow our faith family.

And yet, even after thousands of new members have joined us, the qualities that our early church members loved remain the same – the deeply welcoming environment, the intentional way our church family cares for one another, and the faithful declaring of the good news of the gospel to a world that needs it. Praise God that – even as our membership has grown – our brothers and sisters still feel seen, known, loved, and encouraged to pursue the calling that God has on their lives.
